Olde World Renaissance Faire
Who Are We? The beginnings of the Olde World Renaissance Faire (The
Faire) were established in 1998 out of a need for traditional artisan’s to have
a time and place to present their wares to the public. For the first 5 years
the event has been successfully operated under the name "Olde World Market and
Medieval Festival", and held annually during the Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday
season at an indoor venue in Twig, Minnesota.
As The Faire has grown over the years, several transformations have taken place,
which include: the addition of new artisans, performers, food vendors, and
increased participation of reenactment organizations and businesses. One of the
biggest transitions for the 2004 season will be our new web site, and moving
from an indoor venue, to a secluded, wooded outdoor site where we're creating a
Market Village.
Today, as in the past, The Faire is a family oriented event where the modern
world can see, feel, and connect with the past and artisans of today. Here, you
can step back in time and sense the years recede as you explore the artisan’s
products, and partake in an atmosphere of smells, sights, and sounds that
encompass an Olde World aura. This aura is enhanced by the artisans as they
are preserving, sharing, and teaching part of history from a period when each
item was created by hand, had meaning and purpose in everyday life. These items
contained a bit of its makers soul.
Currently The Faire occurs one weekend a
year and covers a historical period ranging from the year 1200 - 1700 in Europe.
The faires primary focus is to create a Market Village with no specific country
or nobility being represented at this time. In 2004, the event will be
greatly expanded at our new outdoor site and will include additional artisans,
musicians, performers, and food vendors who will delight your senses and help
create an outdoor event in the tradition of the Olde World.
